| Abstract (ENG) | The authors have emphasised the fact that the prevention of oral cavity ailments such as dental caries or periodontium diseases has an impact on the ability to retain one’s teeth, and thus also on the functioning of the stomatognathic system. They have paid attention to the creation of bacterial biofilm. They have discussed the significance of oral cavity hygiene in the prophylaxis and treatment of dental caries and periodontium diseases. The have proceeded on to focus on one of the most easily observable oral cavity changes, namely the passive teeth eruption. They have also characterised the deterioration of chewing quality which progresses with age. |
| Abstract (PL) | Autorzy podkreślili, że zapobieganie chorobom w jamie ustnej takim jak próchnica czy choroba przyzębia warunkuje utrzymanie swojego uzębienia, a tym samym prawidłowe funkcjonowanie układu stomatognatycznego. Zwrócili uwagę na rolę tworzącego się biofilmu bakteryjnego. Omówili znaczenie higieny jamy ustnej w profilaktyce jak i leczeniu procesu próchnicowego i chorób przyzębia. Następnie skupili się na jednej z najbardziej widocznych zmian pojawiających się w jamie ustnej w starszym wieku tj. biernym wyrzynaniu zęba. Scharakteryzowali także postępujący wraz z wiekiem proces pogorszenia wydolności żucia. |
